YOUTH LEADING THE CHANGE

State's Attorney Jim Rowe formed the Youth Advisory Board to give young people an opportunity to serve as leaders, while providing a tremendous benefit to the Office and our county.  The mission of the Board is to educate the community about current issues affecting young people, spread awareness about the needs and challenges of youth, and create positive change throughout the community that leads to a reduction in crime.

The collaboration between the State's Attorney's Office, local schools, and community partners is a win for us and a win for the community when we work together to help kids learn about public service and public safety. With adult support and guidance, a diverse group of youth members will be tasked with producing impactful campaigns designed by youth, for youth, and developing a creative, effective message that we hope will resonate with their peers and be a positive force in our communities.

The Youth Advisory Board will meet monthly, with committee meetings being held based upon the needs of a project.  Board members must be current high-school or homeschool students from within Kankakee County.
