Youth Art Contest Details...

The theme of the contest is “What Keeps Me Drug Free”. This contest is open to all public schools, private schools, and home-schooled students countywide. The theme, “What Keeps Me Drug Free”, asks contestants to highlight the positive influences (people, activities, etc.) in their lives and community that keep them from using drugs.

We ask that their artwork is no larger than 24”x36” (standard Posterboard size). Students will be placed into one of three divisions based on their grade level, 7-8, 9-10, and 11-12. All student art pieces must include the student info sheet that is included with this letter. Once the sheet has been filled out completely, please attach it to the back of the student’s piece. Submissions without a completed info sheet will not be accepted. Please give your students a copy of the submission guidelines included with this letter. Submissions that do not follow the guidelines will not be accepted.

On Tuesday, October 24th, between 9:30am and 4:30pm, our staff will be at your school to pick up all submissions. Please email eoverton@k3county.net before October 20th with the total number of pieces your school will be submitting. You will be assigned a pick up time via email that our staff will be at your school. Please make sure all submissions are in a front/main office by your scheduled time. Please contact our office at 815-936-5820 if alternate pickup arrangements need to be made. Submissions after October 24th will not be accepted for any reason.

Important Dates:

Submissions are due by Tuesday, October 24th at the scheduled pickup indicated in your confirmation email. All submissions should be turned in to the student’s art teacher.

All students who submitted a piece by the deadline are asked to attend an awards ceremony on Wednesday, November 8th at the Kankakee Public Library at 6pm on the 4th floor. All students will be recognized for their work and will receive a prize bag. Student pieces will be judged by a panel of local officials and artists and awarded 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place awards within their grade category. If you have any questions, please contact Emma Overton at eoverton@k3county.net
